I cried. A lot. Only a few minor things irritated me.
I am moved to recite the following, from memory, more than ten years after I have read the material.
Eomer: Returned to Rohan as King, married, had children, died.
Faramir and Eowyn: Married each other; Faramir was made Prince of Ithilien, had children, died.
Sam: Was mayor of Hobbiton for seven seven year terms, had 12 children, went to the Grey Havens and into the West after Rosie died.
Merry and Pippin: Had many minor adventures, ended up in Gondor, and were entombed in the Halls of the Kings.
Aragorn: Married Arwen, had several children, died at the age of 213 and was entombed in the Halls of the Kings; Merry and Pippin were laid at his side.
Gimli: Imported dwarves from the Lonely Mountain and became lord of the Glittering Caves of Aglarond at Helm's Deep; after Aragorn died, he went into the West with Legolas.
Legolas: Imported elves from Mirkwood to populate Fangorn, and to keep an eye on Gimli. Hauled Gimli into the West after Aragorn died.
Arwen: Lived as Aragorn's Queen until his death, then wandered about Middle Earth until finally lying down to die on Cirin Amroth in Lothlorien, where her body was absorbed into the hillside.
Corrections welcome, but let's be purists: Spot the mistakes from memory, and then double check the books before you complain.
