And then, some ironic juxtaposition: A calendar page about knife superstitions, and the knife I gave Dementia on the first anniversary of the day we met. The inscriptions on the knife, which refused to photograph with the equipment at hand, read, "Jewel", "3-12-84", and "3-12-85". (Jewel is a variation on Dementia's real name, but you knew that, didn't you?)
Dementia caries that knife pretty much everywhere, rather more than is really allowed by law. It once fell out of her bag onto Michigan Avenue (in the Loop, yet), and was run over (and the handle damaged, later repaired) by a ten wheeled truck...
