Retreads, Clouseau, International, Shopaholic

Boredom and convenience led me to re-watch three movies this week: "Inkheart" and "The Uninvited" held up really well; "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" did NOT.

The same issues of boredom and convenience led me to watch "The Pink Panther 2", which was unfortunate. This was the worst comedy I have ever seen, and may be the worst film I have ever seen (and I have watched some REALLY bad films. John Cleese did demonstrate his ability rise above the material, though...

Our Friday double feature was "The International" and "Confessions of a Shopaholic"...

"The International" is a pretty good thriller. Not great, not bad. The state of New York has never sent an assistant DA to Europe to work on a prospective case, though. Really.

"Confessions of a Shopaholic" is a tolerable romantic comedy with more than its fair share of painfully embarrassing moments and general stupidity. This is in spite of the truly charming Isla Fisher in the main role. The film did, however, give rise to the second best critical comment I can think of: "Isla Fisher demonstrates that it is possible to dress in jaw-droppingly expensive Fashion, and still look like a demented streetwalker." I will forgive a movie much when it inspires lines like that...
