Sodom, Geneva, Transformers

The Wednesday Decompression movie was "Year One". It was tolerable in a lame sort of way. One might wonder about the process that caused a movie set in the second millennium BCE to be called "Year One", but if you actually give the movie that much thought, you will ruin whatever small charm it has.

On Friday was saw the new "Transformers" movie. It was decidedly flat. I was simply too old to develop an emotional attachments to the toys when they first came out (though I was fascinated by the Micronauts, which share a similar ancestry), and "magic robots" is just not a concept that interests me. I like Shia LaBeouf well enough, but Megan Fox just projects too much stupidity (there is evidence that she can operate doorknobs without coaching, but I still have a hard time believing it) to really be interesting. I WAS amused by twists in geography that made Giza, Petra, and the Red Sea all within line of sight of each other...

On Thursday, I spent five gallons of gas and a $7.50 launch fee to go sailing on Geneva Lake, out of Williams Bay. I got about a mile and a quarter out into the lake, realized one of my halyard mountings was about to fail, and turned around and went home. One of these days, three or four weeks from now, I am going to get up early and actually do the full tour of the lake, some 20 miles worth.
