"It's Complicated" is a first rate romantic comedy, that the three leads have an average age of 58 notwithstanding. It's a clever movie with an outstanding cast that picked up its "R" rating solely on the basis of the fact that there were no negative consequences to marijuana use by the principals. About two thirds of the way through the movie, I whispered to Dementia that I had not idea how the main plot would resolve itself; she replied that it would go a certain way, and she was wrong. That doesn't happen very often...
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" is... Ok, I saw it. I was in movie-slut mode, and was torn between re-watching "Sherlock Holmes" and this, and I wanted something REALLY mindless... Once you get yourself into a mindset where you can STAND to watch a talking chipmunk movie, this wasn't awful. It wasn't as good as the original (which is a low standard in any case), but it wasn't awful, and it did what I wanted it to do.
