Wednesday's decompression movies was, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", two and a half hours of Swedish thriller/ whodunit while reading English subtitles. It is a VERY good movie for all of that, tightly written and well paced. The title character is fascinating, charismatic, and NASTY.
"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is a pretty good action adventure movie, particularly when you consider it is based on a video game. It's fun; what more do you want?
"Sex and the City 2" is, like its predecessor, better than I expected it to be. It has a couple of BRILLIANT bits, and quite a few tiresome ones. I don't regret seeing it, which is not exactly a recommendation.
Over the weekend I finally managed to watch the 1981 "Clash of the Titans". I am finally forced to admit that the 2010 movie really is a remake, not just a retelling of the same basic story. It is also, clearly, an inferior remake. The 2010 version has better effects, of course, and (perhaps) a slightly better cast, but the script of the 1981 version is vastly better, both more fun and more true to the original material.
