And since Dementia owns the local airwaves, I have been listening to a lot of country, lately.
This is not (necessarily) a bad thing. It's just a thing.
Today Dementia was watching a tape of "Nashville Star", a country version of "American Idol", and it got me to thinking of what I would sing if I were (by some perverse madness) to participate in such a thing. I MIGHT have the voice; I so very much do not have the look...
At any rate, I found myself thinking of doing countrified versions of some of the car songs done by 60s surf bands, and that reminded me of another odd idea; some time ago it occurred to me that an Elvis impersonator with a decent backing band could have a HUGE hit with a rockabilly cover of "Back in the USSR"; it's a fun song, and at this point in time the country audience could be counted on to get and appreciate the joke.
So all of sudden I have an album concept. "Back in the USSR", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Shut Down", and half a dozen more; I could call the thing "Hub Caps (overstrike) Wheel Covers"... And of course, if I was going to cut an album, I would have to do "Wild Hunt's Justice", "Silver Lady", and "Stormbringer". I might even sell enough of them to cover production costs, and it would be a ball to do... (and there is always the vanishingly small possibility of the lightning strike...)
Hmmm. I will have to look into this. It might be worth doing.
