"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was available in retrospective on Wednesday, and since I had never seen it end to end, or on the big screen, I went. I enjoyed it, but... The dramatic structure of this movie is just AWFUL, the score is horribly dated and SILLY... The strength of this movie is entirely in the significant charisma of the stars, and the impossible sparkle of the dialog. It turns out that that is enough.
I saw "Star Wars VII" again; enough people who I like are in love with it that I wanted to make REALLY sure I gave it a fair trial. I saw some things I had missed the first time around, but the ones I liked were balanced by the ones I didn't, so my opinion of the movie didn't change at all. I did get a bit misty over one scene at the end, though; I thought about the implications of the seating arrangements on the Falcon when it started its last flight of the movie, and, well... Yeah.
